days 20-22

i'm doing this "first thirty days of my thirties" thing... but i'm getting tired. i'm just really tired here lately. let's blame PMS or something that hopefully will go away in a wk or less.

ok. down to business. out line sloppy listy form.

Day 20

swim lesson: last of the session. proud mama-- my little "eel" (her skill class title), my little mermaid, was at the top of her game. at the end of the class they all lined up along the side and took turns jumping from the side. all 3 of the other little girls were complete sissies about it- crying and shivering and balking. not my little otter- she waited patiently, but i imagined her thinking "just suck it up and JUMP IN so I can take my turn!" She jumped with exuberant confidence, leaping out from the wall and flinging her arms wide and smiling. not that this is anything new. last summer she would spend whole long afternoons doing this at the pool as long as we would let her. what's not to love? splashing in the comforting wet softness of water with someone to catch you, buoy you up when you start to sink a bit and spot you back to the edge. nothing to fear. that's the joy of being a kid. i love to watch her get that. and i'm proud that she's not a sissie- at least about swimming anyway. those other kids are all grand and special in someway, i'm sure. but none of them are MY baby. and I think mine is grandest. i'm shameless.

home- finished up Franklin.

D went out to Kevin’s "guys nite".

Me: home alone. :)
Organized craft room  corner. a happy corner.
Read blogs... nearly came to tears watching a video about a fabulous party given for some differently abled adults. i now love the term "differently abled". i think it's perfect in so many ways...
Stayed up too late doing nothing...? Don’t really remember.

D returned home...
*Saturday nite special ;}

Day 21

Slept in a little

Y movie: Land Before Time

No breakfast: MUST get groceries...

Puttered around

Took a shower. Gave Y shower.

Started lunch: meat loaf, sweet potatoes, corn, blueberry buckle. yup, i rocked it.

K&D showed up early- it was good

Claire “helped” me in the kitchen.
Yosie hovered around Kari and the new kid on the block superstar- miss emma.

Sunshine poured in the living room window.
A bucolic afternoon.

Good conversation over lunch and after.

Felt a little too quiet after they had to leave... “Family is when we’re all together.” I’m afraid Y is a little lonely as an only child...

David sorted books
I sorted fabric straps
Yosie “helped”

I went to the grocery, finally. Forgot my debit card. Checking out 5min before the store was to close. Cart piled high.  I blushed. The cashier reminded me of closing time. I said I lived close and would be back. Left my reusable shopping bags with the cart as “insurance/reassurance/proof” i WOULD be back. drove home blabbering fuckity fuck fuck fuck. it didn’t help like it sometimes would. david met me@ the door. i ran back to the car. cashier girl was waiting nonchalantly at the door. thank goodness she didn’t get cheeky with me or i might’ve further embarrassed myself by going bitchtastic on her. feverishly packed my goods, under the watchful eye of the mopping manager. *breathe, lyndie. nice lyndie. polite lyndie. noncholant lyndie. i don’t give a fuck what you think lyndie.*

my name looks funny.

ah, never mind. i survived. rah!

evening: y and d building stuff with knex while i put away groceries...

i printed out "downton abbey" paperdolls in preparation for the evenings big finale. eee!

y observed and once she understood what they were was instantly enchanted by the magic of paperdolls and begged for her own. i relented and found some kiddie ones. we got one bunny and it's out fit cut out, pasted and put together before bedtime. she made a bed for it out of fabric scraps. *sigh* oh that girl...knows how to pull my heart strings.

i rushed her to bed, and she cooperated as if she understood. a fine rarity.

Downton Abbey was fun and full of happy surprises. We ate snacks. I ate too much and made my belly hurt. Guacamole tho, c'mon... Hard to resist. Stayed late afterward talking books, religion, life, growing. It's good, so good, to be at home with a friend, to be understand and be understood. love you Savana.

contentedly snuggle under covers at home with my best friend-confidant-lover. just right.

day 22

it's nearly 10p now. my eyes feel crusty and heavy.

work today. busy day. 1 positive influenza A. poor little guy. he was a miserable fella.
urine specimen cups were all boring clinic provided containers.

david and yosi spent the day at the children's museum.
he kept me amused (and slightly envious and longing) with little pics and quips about their day. like how she was so excited to leave that he arrived in the kitchen to find that she had started packing lunch herself. i probably would've nipped that in the bud for some undefined principle. i'm glad David didn't though, and i'm glad i wasn't there to.

this evening i was regaled with stories about ferret watching, python skin shedding, climbing the net rope alone, yosie using the automatic flush toilets alone (! super brave !), playing pretend mouse in a hole in the fun little tunnels.

We watched Word Girl and ate pizza. We watched mermaid videos and babies dancing. We watched videos of Yosie as a baby, jabbering, crawling, cruising, spinning in circles, in the sand on the beach of lake michigan, toddling and falling in the backyard, daddy introducing her to the soccer ball...

time does slip by... i don't do so many videos anymore.
all those cliche's - precious moments, they're only young once, take the time... are starting to seem more "real" and less cliche b/c they're true to me.

bedtime: brush teeth, go potty, change to jammies, read book, turn out light, rock and sing/hum. already she fits so differently on my lap. the tiny girl who squirmed there now stretches her legs out past my knees and gets uncomfortable, as if it is I who have shrunk, not her self that has grown... carrying her to her bed takes much more effort and my joints strain against the weight. still, i will, as long as i can. she's only this small once.
